I had heard doing Mt Baker in two days was a great climb, so I thought why not do it in one day? I answered my own question a few days later…
We left Vancouver at 10 pm on Friday night and got to the parking lot of Mt Baker around midnight. I had tried to sleep after work but the excitement was killing me and I just wanted to get started. By 1 am we were on the trail and on our way to the tip of the Coleman glacier…the guide book said it would take about 3 hrs to get there and we did it in just under 2 so we were feeling great when we got there so quickly…I thought to myself, we’ll be back to the car at 8 in the morning!! We geared up and started heading up the glacier. The weather was great but it was much colder than I expected.
